Notes | Built in 1816 from the design of Benjamin H. Latrobe, architect of the Capitol. Dolly Madison was baptized and confirmed here, and later her funeral was from this Church. Presidents Madison, Monroe, Van Buren, William Henry Harrison, Tyler, Taylor, Buchanan and Arthur were constant worshippers here, occupying the "President's Pew". The Church contains memorials to them. |
