| Notes | This venerable and historic edifice stands upon the site of an old Indian settlement. The original structure was completed in 1741. Here was held the Va. convention of 1775, during a session of which Patrick Henry delivered his famous Speech ("Give me liberty or give me death.") The surrounding burial ground contains many curious tombs and unique epitaphs. |
