NotesWas built in 1735, and attended by the distinguished John Randolph, of Roanoke, who descended from Pocahontas; and many others of note and distinction of that period. Within the walls of its "moss grown battlement and ivy mantled towers" are engraved by some unknown one, the famous verses beginning "Thou art crumbling to the dust, old pile," which are published in connection with view of the interior.
