NotesFirst church built on present site 1734. George Washington, vestryman of Truro Parish to which this church belonged in 1762. Levy of 30,000 lbs. of tobacco placed on parish in 1763 to build new church. Present church completed in 1769. Occupied and damaged by Federal troops in 1861, later repaired by U.S. Government. New chancel built in 1906 and present pews installed in 1925.
