Notes | The temple was commenced April 6, 1853 and completed April 6, 1893, at a cost of approximately $4,000,000. It is 186 1/2 feet long by 99 feet wide. The foundation or footing walls are 16 feet thick and 8 feet deep. The basement walls are 9 feet thick and the upper walls 6 feet thick. The side walls are 1071/2 feet high. East center towers, 210 feet high, surmounted by a hammered copper statue of the Angel Moroni, 12 1/2 feet high gilded with pure gold leaf. |
