Notes | Built 1770-3 and named for the patron saint of Wales. Used by the British during the Revolution as a smallpox hospital; 50 who died here are buried in one grave in the shady yard. Many great South Carolinians are buried here including James H. Thornwell and Bishop Alexander Gregg. |
