Notes | Monument of Robert Fulton, 1765-1815. In 1806 Fulton constructed the famous steamboat, "Clermont", which after a trial trip on the East River, August 9, 1807, made her first voyage to Albany on August 17 of that year. This monument was erected in 1901, by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Designed by J. W. Gossling and Albert Wennart. |
