Notes | An interior view of Marble Collegiate Church, built in 1854, when Fifth Avenue was an unpaved roadway and "far out in the country." The church, the first in the United States to have an electronically operated pipe organ, has hanging balconies and an unobstructed view of the pulpit from every pew. Its acoustical properties are said to be among the finest of any building in the country. A charming feature is the little door at the end of each pew. |
