Notes | The Church of the Transfiguration is better known as "The Little Church Around the Corner" from the fact that its rector once read the funeral service of the Church over the body of an actor, after a neighboring clergyman had refused, telling the friends of the deceased to go to "the little church around the corner". This simple incident won for the church the affection of the whole dramatic profession. Many a romantic marriage has taken place within its walls. |
