It was restored and enlarged after a fire and worship resumed in it in December, 1882. The two paintings in the Sanctuary are splendid examples of the work of John LaFarge, and represent "The Nativity" and "The Adoration". The paintings show the Shepherds and the Wise Men adoring the Incarnate Son of God.
