NotesInterior of Nave and Sanctuary of El Santuario de Chimayo, built between 1813-1816 of adobe. This Church is one of the most beautifully decorated and historical Churches of the Southwest. All of the paintings (reredos) and carvings (bultos) with the construction itself, were done by local people. The ceiling structure is of very special note and to this day Vigas and Corvels are very popular as in Colonial days in Spain. Modern architects copy this style.
