Notes | Built in 1729. Used as a place of meeting by the patriots of '76. During the British occupancy of Boston was used as a riding school by the Redcoat Cavalry. Narrowly escaped the flames during the conflagration of 1872 and is now protected by extraordinary means from the fire. Stands on Washington Street in the richest and busiest part of the city. |
