Nancy T. Ammerman is professor of sociology of religion at Hartford Seminary's Center for Social and Religious Research. In 1993, she served on the panel of experts convened by the U.S. Departments of Justice and Treasury to make recommendations in light of the government's confrontation with Branch Davidians in Waco, TX; she later testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on the same subject. Her books include Bible Believers: Fundamentalists in the Modern World, Congregation and Community, and Work, Family, and Religion in Contemporary Society, edited with Wade Clark Roof.(Bio dated 1998)
