Princeton Theological Review (New Series)
Originally, the journal titled The Princeton Theological Review was published from 1903 to 1929 as an official publication of Princeton Theological Seminary. In 1994, that journal title was adopted for a new, student-run journal. The first issue described the new journal this way:
Princeton Theological Review is published quarterly by a group of students of Princeton Theological Seminary organized as the Charles Hodge Society.
The masthead of the first issue also included these lines: “A Journal by and for Students of Theology, Dedicated to The Rev. Dr. Charles Hodge (1797-1878), Professor of Systematic Theology, Princeton Theological Seminary.”
The self-description evolved over time, later referring to the journal as “a ministry of the Theological Students’ Fellowship” and dropping reference to Hodge. By the last issue, published in 2019, the editors included this expanded description:
The Princeton Theological Review is a student-run academic journal that serves both the Princeton Theological Seminary student body and the theological community at large. It promotes a free and open exchange of ideas in order to challenge, inform, and equip its audience to become more effective and faithful witnesses to the Lord Jesus Christ. We are committed to engaging theological issues in ways that are grounded in scripture, centered on Jesus Christ, formed by the work of the Holy Spirit, and mindful of the historic and contemporary stances of the church.
