Notes | Formerly the chapel of Mount Vernon Seminary for girls, it was erected in 1924 as a memorial to Mrs. Elizabeth Somers, first Headmistress of the school. The campus was purchased by the Navy in 1942. The chapel is a classic of Georgian Colonial design and contains a three manual Skinner pipe organ. Catholic Mass is said at 0900 and Protestant Services are held at 1045 each Sunday. This view shows the altar as set up for Protestant Services. |
