NotesThe oldest Cathedral in the Nation and the third to be erected on this spot. The first was built by Bienville around 1718. Its destruction occurred in the hurricane of 1722 and was rebuilt a year later. The second church was destroyed by the great fire of 1788 and was rebuilt largely through the financial assistance of Don Alomester.
