For simple and qualified Dublin Core, there are two options for outputting LCSH subject headings. The default behavior is to return LCSH subjects in pre-coordinated form (as in "Lincoln, Abraham, 1809-1865--Gettysburg address"). Append "_split_lcsh" to the prefix name, as in metadataPrefix=oai_dc_split_lcsh, to return LCSH subjects in which each pre-coordinated value has been split into multiple, de-coordinated values (as in "Lincoln, Abraham, 1809-1865" in one subject element and "Gettysburg address" in a separate subject element). Choose the option that suits your needs. For example, DPLA recommends the latter option, for reasons explained in "DPLA Metadata Quality Guidelines" (http://bit.ly/dpla-metadata-qual).For rights information, the first relevant element (for example, <dc:rights> when metadataPrefix=oai_dc) contains the standardized rights statement from rightsstatements.org. Non-standardized rights descriptions, if any, appear in separate, subsequent elements.
