Notes The Association was originally constituted in 1816 as the Beckbe association by churches in Clarke and Washington counties. The name changed to Bethlehem in 1827. It was under the leadership of Alexander Travis and was the second Baptist association to be in Alabama and the first association formed on Alabama soil.
